Matter and Measurement Test

The unit test was one of the more difficult tests this year. The most difficult part was finishing the test in a timely manner. I found that I sometimes took too long on certain dimensional analysis problems that forced me to rush to finish the test in the end. I am not as confident with this test as I have been with previous tests, but all I can do is hope that I good score now. Recipe project was fun, and everyone brought in good food that I really enjoyed.

Significant Digits and Classifying Matter Quiz

The quiz today covered both significant digits and classifying matter, but more questions about significant digits were covered. I am fairly confident with my quiz, but I am still not completely confident with significant digits. When doing equations with both multiplication/division and addition/subtraction, I am unsure of where and when I can round in the equation and which numbers I  can use to determine how many significant digits are in my answer. The classifying matter material was much easier for me to understand, and on the quiz I feel confident in those answers.

I am so confused...

Today we had a lesson on significant figures, and although the concept themselves are not the most difficult, trying to learn all of the little rules simultaneously is challenging. I am going to have to study and do some practice problems before the test because everything is still so confusing.

Pre-test

The pre-test was predictably difficult. I was able to make educated guesses for a small percentage of the questions, but overall, I didn't know what I was doing. The only part I was comfortable with was the last few questions that were about nomenclature. I felt they were a good refresher and helped me remember the nomenclature unit. I especially needed this extra practice after fall break since I didn't study over break. I'm excited to see my improvement over this unit, and I'm especially excited for MOLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Unit Test Atomic Structure and Radioactivity

Today we took the unit test, and although it took me the whole class period to finish, I did not feel like it was as difficult as I expected. Last night I reviewed alpha and beta decay as well as half life equation, and I am glad I did because I noticed many question were on these subjects. I noticed there were many questions about alpha decay in particular. Overall this unit test went smoothly, and I did not need to stress as much as I did beforehand.
